HUMAN BEHAVIOR – ‘GOLGOTHA’ LP/CD
IMG_7794This is the first proper full-length by Tucson, Arizona’s Human Behavior. What started as a moniker for the solo project of Andy Parada has transformed into some sort of dark, folk orchestra. This record collects thirteen lusciously eerie songs that bloom into something spectacular. Think the audio equivelant of the Stinking Titan Arum, bold and unforgiving. CD VERSION: These are pro-replicated, glass-mastered CD’s (not CD-R’s) and are a one time pressing of 100. Comes in a full-color jacket. The CD version id co-released with Diet Pop Records. LP VERSION: Released as a pressing of 557 LP’s (447 on black vinyl and 110 on pink), housed in full-color jackets. Includes a large screen-printed insert and a digital download.

RB-168 Su Sous Toulouse En Rouge/Pregnant Spore – ‘Fruitland Heights Gigabytes’ split CDr
rb168The Saint Petersburg Institute Of Noise brings you a conceptual art project by Noni Halloway and Sterling Biscayne residing in Treasure Island. They are JUST RIGHT. Eclectic tape-collage, occasionally flirting with swamps of feedback frying to it’s death and back. Minimal processing. Decompression from chaos without avoiding fatiguing territory… although there are plenty of quiet places to study. An engrossing, moody oeuvre of avant-garde flow. Everything I just said is as true as you want it to be. The second half of the split, “Plagued By 4-Methoxy-2-methylbutane-2-thiol” by Pregnant Spore, is a near-37 minute magic school bus ride into short-circuits, tangled magnetic tape, hand-built electro-acoustic instruments, pure Casio heaven, treated and re-assembled vinyl, voice guidance, and sneaking around feedback paths in a higher-consciousness graveyard. My own other-worldy trip/ascension into depths untapped; the struggle to grow into my true self, translated into sonic art. A recurring theme of real-life addiction to pheromones. Tip: Listen extremely loud in a naked, white room. Black ink printed on two different shades of mint green card stock inside thick plastic sleeves, complete with a folded 8.5×11-inch photo-copied piece of art by Justin Marc Lloyd. Limited to 24.

RB-169 Justin Marc Lloyd – ‘Anxiety Flood Cont.’ C22 + zine
rb169Potent and off-beat krautrock-inspired almost-songs drenched in electro-acoustics, synth and obstructed vocal delivery. Heavy garbled tape and vinyl looping as backbones, drunkenly staggered. Non-sensical contrast, as a repurposing, creating unique limits around free-associating. Mentally inconvenient with no grace. Inelegant yet careful. Intentional yet the fluid in your ears acts like a puppet controlled by the cosmos. Introspective anti-post-punk sent to space, pre-chakra cleansing. Recorded live with no overdubs. Read the lyrics and sing along. A follow-up to the soon-to-be-released split 10″ on Eschatone Records with Space Toilets. Black ink printed on both light pink and orange card stock. Comes with a lyric sheet and a mini-zine of illustrations by Justin Marc Lloyd, on either red, black, or red and black paper. Hand-stamped, painted paper labels on clear/black foil cassettes. Limited to 66.

RB-170 Vertonen – ‘Blind Ventriloquist’ C32
rb170When Chicago’s Blake Edwards isn’t professor-ing, watching Chrome make asses of themselves at the Empty Bottle, and looking like a xHARDCOREx kid who’s finally becoming an adult, he’s playing around with records and electronics (meaning: putting together absolutely stunning musique concrete for patient, attentive weirdos in the experimental scene). Being such a nerd-fan of Nautical Almanac, I naturally discovered project-Vert through Edwards’s split with them. I became a super-fan (different from nerd-fan) shortly thereafter and gave him spot #1 on the recent Soup Of Freak compilation. Our relationship has since bloomed into fields of white flowers, and this c32 was released in the knick of time. For fans of Jason Zeh and Hong Chulki, and Blake knows it. Full of texture, hints of industrial vibes, and loops that make your face go o_O. Black ink printed on lilac card stock. Comes with info card explaining the processes on these recordings. Hand-painted paper labels on solid white shells. Art by Blake Edwards, text and layout by Justin Marc Lloyd. Limited to 31.

RB-171 AMK – ‘The Perpetual Journeys Of A Despotic King’ C32
rb171True story: as Anthony M. King and I were discussing his release on Rainbow Bridge, we somehow got onto the topic of dolphins. Next thing I knew, he was re-sending me his side A piece complete with dolphin voices dubbed in. He gave me a choice of which version to release. I believe it’s obvious which version I picked. Sound-collage with subtle looping of sonics both decipherable and vague. A total space farm. A Star Trek episode with a jungle-on-a-beach scene on some Earth-LIKE planet. Another true story: Before material was submitted, I told King I was trying to sway toward the “weird” over the “harsh” as far as what I wanted to be releasing most of the time. He was fine with this, hence side A. But he later emailed me, telling me he was sorry, and that he decided to do something completely different for side B. Side B is called “Two” but it could easily be called “15 Minutes Of Watching Your Skin Slowly Dissipate From Your Face.” Black ink printed on green card stock with artwork by Justin Marc Lloyd, made from a source photo provided by AMK. Hand-painted labels on white solid shells. Limited to 31.

RB-172 Tinnitustimulus – ‘Unfamiliar Dust’ C32
rb172Tomas Bennett from Philadelphia, PA is an artistic genius, crafting some of the most compelling pieces the world of harsh noise has ever barely known. No dark and dirty gimmicks. This isn’t so much about negative energy as it is about… well gee, I don’t know, every time I listen to this tape, I’m speechless. This is “harsh noise” for experimental fans who get easily tired of the same harsh bullshit. This reserved, polite, supportive and intelligent little guy is a junk-metal master, and it doesn’t stop there AT ALL. In fact, his style reminds me highly of Pedestrian Deposit, in the way that he tastefully hybrids musique concrete, electro-acoustic, feedback and field recordings, and weaves them in and out of each other flawlessly. This is a dynamic album that will not let go of you until it’s done, much like the perfect novel. And you always want to read those novels again. Someone better re-release this when I sell out. 31 tapes is an insult to this recording. Black ink printed on red j-cards. Hand-painted paper labels on white solid shells. Artwork by Justin Marc Lloyd. Limited to 31.

Copkiller/Roro Perot split C41
crpsplitI confess, I have a penchant for odd ball splits. The weirder, the better! With that in mind, I’m happy to present this split between Copkiller and Roro Perrot. Copkiller is Justin Marc Lloyd (Chicago/Baltimore) on synth, vocals, and programming. Drunken, stoned out, and broken. Avant electronic noise-rock-pop. Roro Perrot is the ultra shit folk alter ego of Vomir. No songs, no ryhme or reason – just demented acoustic improvisations.

Justin Marc Lloyd – ‘Invade Their Countries, Kill Their Leaders, Convert Them To Christianity’
jml-itcktlcttcAvant electronics. Blue shells. Limited to 50 pieces. Art by Justin Marc Lloyd.

Divine Shell – ‘Sleep Buzz’ C10
Sleep Buzz CoverThis tape is plain and simple mind blowing. Composed by longtime friend of the label Derek Setzer. Dronescapes pour out of your speakers, as quiet synthesizer lines flit in and out of existence. A tape of quiet and nuanced pieces, that fit together in the most compelling and beautiful ways. This tape is surely one you shouldn’t pass up. Limited to 25. Black and white art by Derek printed on ultra blue cardstock. Lime green hand stamped tapes.

Jared Funk – ‘4/10’ C35
Jared Funk 410 CoverAn assemblage of field recordings put together simply. Jared examined the world around him, dissecting everything that could possibly make sound and laying them out on the autopsy table. The depth of exploration in this tape is amazing and fresh, yet understated. A look into the world we live in that we don’t look at. Limited to 25. Hand stamped prison shell cassettes in poly cases, inside ziplock bags with torn up hand labeled artwork, and nature.

False Flag – ‘Non-Violence Protects The State/Rockefeller Empire’ recycled Cassette
Non-Violence Protects The State CoverFalse Flag (Justin Marc Lloyd) starts off the new cassette series “Recycled Religion” focusing on harsh noise put onto recycled cassettes. Harsh walls and pummeling bass. Anti-establishment, anti-government, hateful harsh noise. The sounds are very dynamic and switch between textures, all while keeping it all interesting, and very focused. Limited to 22 recycled tapes. Black and white art on yellow paper with liner notes on the backside.

TOTAL FVCKING DARKNESS – ‘ADRIFT IN THE SHROVDED MISTS OF ETERNITIES OBITVARY WRITTEN IN VAPOROVS BLOOD’ CS
TFD tapeFrom the gentrified wastes of inner-city Melbourne, Australia arises an ominous black cloud of nihilistic fervor and downright malevolence in the form of the bleak duo known as TOTAL FVCKING DARKNESS. Comparable to LOW in instrumentation alone, TFD instead conjure slow torturous drone-gaze dirges interspersed with blasts of black, underscored by unsettling funeral-esque keyboard passages, sub-sonic noise, helmed by death-whispers, phantom-like vocals recalling the departed Rozz Williams and hellish Black-Metal howls bellowing into the endless abyss. Captured live to cassette tape on a TASCAM 4-track using 2 microphones at a converted Funeral Parlour in Preston by infernal luddite mastermind Lindsay Phillips. ‘ADRIFT IN THE SHROVDED MISTS…’ is an eerie atmospheric recording, which paints a disturbing portrait of the coming apocalypse, the degradation of the Earth and the rejection of God and the afterlife. Lo-tech and oppressively grim TOTAL FVCKING DARKNESS draws venom from the same misanthropic well that bands such as SWANS / CHRISTIAN DEATH / GODFLESH / INTEGRITY / BLOODLET / HTRK / DISEMBOWELMENT and early MAYHEM fester in.

BLACK SITES – ‘Prototype EP’ 12″
panact_PAN39PAN46si03Both residents at iconic Hamburg club ‘The Golden Pudel’, Hauff and F#X are stellar representatives of an experimental approach that has earned the underground spot it’s growing reputation. Emergence is a fitting theme, as 2013 is already shaping up to be a breakthrough year for the duo. Hauff is soon to release a solo 12” on Actress’s Werkdisks label, and F#X recently releasing a dubbed out single on Pudel’s own ‘Pudel Produkte’ imprint as a member of ‘Circuit Diagram’. This is riotous and cerebral club music. The analog artifacts of A side ‘Prototype’ permutate in tandem with melodic Detroit chords, a pounding rhythm section and a central ascending 303 line. B side ‘N313P’ maintains the intense pace. Building around competing resonances, the untethered Drexciyan melodies probe, expand and contract to rapturous effect. The 12″ is mastered and cut by Rashad Becker at D&M. It is pressed on 140g white vinyl which itself is housed in a silk screened pvc sleeve with artwork by Bill Kouligas.

CONCRETE FENCE – ‘New Release (1)’ 12″
panact_PAN39PAN46si02The pedigree of this collaboration should need little explanation. Luminaries of British electronic music spanning over two decades, Russell Haswell (Gescom, Haswell & Hecker) and Downwards label founder Karl O’Connor (Regis, Sandwell District, British Murder Boys) have come together to produce three tracks of inimitable experimental techno in their debut collaborative release. With each track built upon a permutating sonic foundation, these are muscular and expertly paced compositions that effortlessly transition between hypnotic rhythms and textural and timbral experimentation. ‘Industrial Disease”s mid paced dark dancehall rhythm snakes around ominous and monu- mental roars of synthesis, hard transitioning into an abstract concrete composition. ‘Caulk’ relocates the dark and delayed mood into a sonic wind tunnel, amidst roughly textured radio transmissions and epic resonant sweeps. ‘The Unabridged Truth’ introduces the first unswerving 4/4 beat of the release, which grows in stature until the violent electronic bursts are eventually wrestled into an unsettled closing passage. The 12″ is mastered and cut by Rashad Becker at D&M. It is pressed on 140g white vinyl which itself is housed in a silk screened pvc sleeve with artwork by Bill Kouligas & Russell Haswell.

SCHIMPFLUCH-GRUPPE – ‘Nigredo’ C46
frag29_APSince its foundation in Zürich 1987, Eb.er’s Schimpfluch-Gruppe has become the epitome of radical outsider art in many respects. Appearing in varying lineups over the years, including several guest artists alongside the core-members (Eb.er, Lanz, Phillips, Zeier, Löwenbrück), the Schimpfluch-Gruppe has been forging a bridge from stirring audio and visual works to disturbing and highly challenging live performances ever since. This cassette documents a live action by Rudolf Eb.er and Dave Phillips, held in Tokyo 2012 on side A. The flipside contains the beforehand recorded sounds for said performance. One channel per artist, produced independently of each other, Phillips left, Eb.er right. Black pro-duplicated cassettes, white printed.

NNA Tapes

NNA062: Jason Lescalleet – ‘Archaic Architecture’ C40
7dadd36182ea1b5674faf2839c00ab21cbd9e4efArchaic Architecture” is the latest work from Jason Lescalleet, one of New England’s most talented and dedicated modern sound artists. Over the past couple of decades, Lescalleet has released highly-regarded and quality works on labels such as Kye, RRR, Erstwhile, Chondritic Sound, and most recently on his own Glistening Examples imprint, as well as collaborating with like-minded explorers of sound such as Aaron Dilloway, Graham Lambkin, and Joe Colley. On this new full-length cassette, Lescalleet turns his ear toward extended, hypnotic melody, combining it with his own personal variety of tape-damaged concréte noise. On “An Archaic Code”, overlapping sheets of lush choral organ and synthesizer meld into each other, rising and falling in consequence, sweeping and pulsing through all fields of frequency. Blanketed underneath is a subdued, purring storm of crumpled tape collage, where found sounds, microscopic textures, and incidental debris delicately scratch at the melody above with coarse piano shards. With his primitive electronics and careful pacing, Lescalleet is able to inject an incredible amount of active detail and depth into a seemingly minimal body. “Organ Music #3” is a hand-played piece of deep and lush organ chords, gothic and powerful in their magnitude. Shifting back and forth between light and dark, the melodies fall into an emotive purgatory, with a consequential production of unusual overtones can feel both strangely disorienting and holy at the same time. The sound has a bold and tangible warmth via tape saturation, built with what seems like the amplified air of a cathedral-like space, making for a raw and enveloping listening experience. Digital Download coupon included with purchase.

Whiteness & Pinkness

v/a – ‘Whiteness & Pinkness zine #1 + bonus flexi disc‘ 7″ $11AUD(AUS)/$16AUD(World)
This is an utter mess of a zine, typewritten with intricate handwritten text jutted in and around each line. It takes a while to adjust into reading something so distinterested in legibility, but if you look closely you’ll notice things like music reviews, label catalogues, as well as stuff on Always, Ex-Crown and Mackle Jackle [Filthy Turd]. The zine itself is A4 size, 14 pages long and black & white. It comes in a clear plastic sleeve with a bonus 1-sided flexi-disc W&P label sampler w/ tracks from the people featured in the zine. Also comes with a bonus Whiteness & Pinkness pin-backed button. Limited to 250 copies.

Mama Baer – ‘Huelsenbecktuete’ C90 $5AUD(AUS)/$8AUD(World)
This solo Mama Baer tape is one of delicate strumming and voice. She’s playing her guitar in an almost primitive way…A thoughtless strum. Slow and sentimental ballad’s…Perhaps this is the closest to actual songs she has ever been. But also yelping and screaming are inherent; her crazy free wild vocal style, which make these recordings a confronting listen. Not quite just delicate strumming and voice anymore. spedup high pitched singing on backing tapes criss crossing with her natural voice, and sometimes with interjections of feedback or abrupt dictaphone abuse. Huelsenbeck was one of the leading artists of dada and Tuete is the german term for bag or goody bag. Limited to 20 hand-numbered copies, which have been crammed into sandwich bags along with an assortment of things found in the bedroom of W&P: scraps of paper, bits of material, broken toys, pillow fluffing, hair, foam, etc. Filled in as much useless things as well, dadaism.

Moffarfarrah – ‘Primo’ C45 $5AUD(AUS)/$8AUD(World)
Moffarfarrah – Premo showcases raw and processed vocal debris in a stream of un-consciousness, relaxed yet pensive, this is indeed a premo recording of the artist known as Moffarfarrah. Moffarfarrah is an ongoing sound poem/vocal noise/ dialog project for Christopher L G Hill, other projects of his include; Bunyip Trax recording label, GUGG, MUGG, Peasant Genes, VDO, Porpoise Torture, Urchyn, Antique Crumbling Framework, Mofhoprah, Castle Mice, Dumb Crystals, G-eunuch, Bohemian Knights, Paeces, Galactic Locksmith, Krystoffkrvstoffiston, Gauntlet, Shawl, Vogue Forums, Skrogen, Saturn Masque, etc…..limited to 20 copies, on yellow tapes.

Kommissar Hjuler & Mama Baer – ‘Gedichte in den Schlaf’ C90 $5AUD(AUS)/$8AUD(World)
Side A features Kommissar Hjuler reading from the Middle High German poet Walther von der Vogelweide and the Austrian Expressionist poet Georg Trakl while walking through long hallways and high cathedrals, his voice echoing throughout. The listener is then taken on a car ride which ends up by the seaside. His words may be lost on non-German speaking listeners, but the captivating experience of following him on his journey is not. Side B, by Mama Baer, is a procession of wordless deep-voiced moaning, accompanied by much-loved children’s nursery rhymes …A prehistoric creature (teradactyl, etc.) has stolen a babies bassinet, mid-flight with babies bassinet in tow. Metal Rouge – ‘Soft Erase’ LP $12
soft_erase“It’s 2013 and although some people would like to tell you that the party is just beginning, the truth is that it’s been over for quite some time. Protest music exists only as a form of personal ritual, hedonism is the only exorcism, artists stifle internal impulses in pursuit of career mobility. On Soft Erase Metal Rouge present a solemn meditation on contemporary society’s willingness to accept what many before have fought to stop. Soft Erase is a collection of monochromatic machine-pulses ridden into the blank heart of single-take live excursions, a haze of modulated delay and de-synchronized loops, of strings hit endlessly in the hope that meaning may appear… Ritual chants give way to berserk guitar overload…dark vamping leads from nowhere to nowhere burning negation and dismissal as righteous fuel…hazy prayers for rain spill out in the merciless desert heat unspooling into an extended fake-kraut meditation featuring Giles Miller on a beautifully unhurried alto sax. Cover art based on the censored art of Italian street artist Blu. Recorded at Ascension Ashram, Los Angeles CA, 2011 – 2012. Mixed by Sean McCann, mastered by James Plotkin. Edition of 300.
