DAIS043 Sightings – ‘Terribly Well’ LP $16
sightingsThe noise rock parade that defies definition, set out on a mission of pure volume worship that is the post-decade pilgrimage of NY-based Sightings After eight instinctive albums, the Sightings guys show no mercy with endless annihilation of their newest material on Terribly Well. All parts destruction measured against their abrasive songwriting. Jagged, collapsing rhythm based mayhem, guitars that can be mistaken as a freight train being ripped for scrap metal, only to be held together with panic stricken bass patterns that keep their voice from the edge of insanity. An accessible album for the unacceptable make this their finest to date. Each song saws through the humanity, taking no hostages with this hectic industrial rock masterpiece. Edition of 500.

SS051 ELISHA MORNINGSTAR – ‘Axioms’ C30
em_2Tape loops, concrete parts, harsh noise .. if the elements of this release have been widely developed in a myriad of outputs, what makes this one unique is the way in which these elements are used to tell a story, the project of Francesco Tignola (joy de vivre, drug age) has in fact a unique approach and is highly cinematic in assembling and relating these elements. Born and raised in Naples the project finds its reason to be in the place where it is located, a chaotic city, with strong contrasts but also a tragic and romantic soul, these are in fact the most profound aspects that help to fully understand the music on this project. Edition of 100.

SS053 OTTAVEN – ‘live in rome’ C120
or_2Giovanni Donadini is a versatile artist, illustrator, musician, fashion designer Looking at his drawings, serigraphs, clothes, fanzines, his records.. is easy to see how everything is extremely connected by a common thread, a strict consistency and a deep study that affect both his works as his lifestyle. Invited to play in Rome with his solo project, Ottaven, Giovanni consciously leaves home his usual set-up, all the pre-recorded material, his well known machines in favor of a totally improvised set. Unconsciously, he offered us a set of two uninterrupted hours, a long, unique state of grace that is here reproduced without change, just for those who weren’t there. Edition of 60.

SS054 DRUG AGE – ‘dyslexic action’ 4CS
dd_2Dyslexia is a language disorder that through repetition and inversion of syllables and vowels, radically transforms it, creating an entirely new language and altering the dynamics of the people involved. Using the same elements, the duo of Matteo Castro and Francesco Tignola sets to music a deep analysis of this discomfort. False starts, repetitions, scraps, loops and “errors” in general are the elements that the skeleton of this work is made of; through 16 tracks, the duo offers a heavy mixture of harsh noise and degraded electronic that in some way goes to simulate and pushes the limits of this new language. Edition of 53.

Electric Voice

Electric Voice II
On this deluxe compilation, Electric Voice Records offers yet another exploration of historical and contemporary underground music. Whereas last year’s Electric Voice V/A release focused on alternative approaches to electronic pop music, this new album mines a darker spectrum of genres, one that spans more than three decades of minimalist synth and industrial work. Here, new generation artists like Tropic of Cancer and Martial Canterel (Xeno & Oaklander) are seen to extend rather than revive the music of their influences. Electric Voice II marries these young artists with pioneers from the beginning days of this music, truly groundbreaking acts like Ike Yard, the first America band to sign with Factory Records, and Throbbing Gristle/Psychic TV’s enigmatic Genesis Breyer P-Orridge, now performing some of her most poignant material to date as Thee Majesty. Other featured artists include Das Ding and French group Martin Dupont, who both offer cuts from their respective early 80’s archives. There are also exclusive tracks by ADN’ Ckrystall, Frank (Just Frank), Vita Noctis, and Nine Circles. Taken together, the seamless flow of these tracks, despite the span of generations, makes clear the continued relevance of these practices and pure electronic sounds. To celebrate this collection, acclaimed artist Juan Mendez (Silent Servant) provides cover artwork, with additional design by Dmytrij Wulffius. Brandon Hocura at Polyphasic Studios offers the meticulous final master.

SCARF – ‘ARF ARF ARF’ CS
8336154866_5f263809b9_oScarf is a trio from Boise, Idaho who’s sound is culled from organ, drums, and vocals colliding. Fueled perhaps by the brutality of living in a Police State, they create music that is humorous, catchy, and un-comfortable. Released on pro-dubbed and imprinted cassettes. The covers are a two-color risograph print done on gray card-stock, printed by No Kings Press. Includes a digital download.

Lackthrow/Ginger Cortes
Lackthrow/Ginger Cortes is an interesting ride in that aside from remixing each other in a harsh kind of way they have this knack of including the ambient dynamics that only come when silence is employed in this kind of scene. CLAUDIO ROCCHETTI – ‘The Fall Of Chrome’ book + CS 14€
7Edition of 300. After many years experimenting with tapes — alone or in collaborations with others — I started to feel lost; like I had exhausted the subject and all ideas. Perhaps I was too influenced by the new wave of cassette culture. Pretentious thoughts started coming to mind. Without any new ideas on the matter, I took a break. I stopped using tapes during live shows as well as during recordings. Why not break new ground? Following months of emptiness and dead end streets, I asked myself; does it really matter why we use certain tools? Is it worthwhile to question myself and waste time on such things? Those new questions seemed too important and too broad — perhaps too naive — to answer by myself. So I turned to those musicians who had used tapes in all possible ways, some before me, some in collaboration with me and, some even after me. Almost all of them replied; some pretended they didn’t understand the question, whilst others gave me very precise answers. Others still, raised new questions. In the meantime, I collected a large quantity of tapes, found on the street – in all sorts of unimaginable places – and started working with them. This process resulted in a 3-hour long composition that I later recorded back onto the original tapes; 300 casettes in total, each with different portions of the composition interacting with the source material. Artists involved: Kam Hassah, Brendan Murray, Ralf Wehowsky, Guillaume Siffert, Riccardo Benassi, Howard Stelzer, Daniela Cascella, Mattin & Ray Brassier, Marcel Turkowsky, Yan Jun, Jérôme Noetinger, Joseph Hammer, Lionel Marchetti, John Olson, Massimiliano Bomba, Harold Schellinx, Rinus Van Aleebeck, Maurizio Bianchi, Francesco Cavaliere.

M. Sage – ‘The Receivers Peaking’ CS $5
mg51Depicted here is the raised hand of an obscured preacher, hovering above rows of urban housing. A striking concept that runs deep into the fervor and punk ethos that M. Sage has been cultivating via ambient and sound collage for years. For the uninitiated, M. Sage is a man out of Fort Collins who crafts grand, aural impressions while simultaneously running his exceptional imprint Patient Sounds. His most recent work and Moon Glyph debut is “The Receivers Peaking”, a conceptual and auditory abstraction of AM radio clips, looped field recordings, processed guitar and serene, pensive composition. As a progressive and prolific worker, M. Sage deconstructs our surroundings and shows us his shimmering utopia that could have been. Ed. of 150.

Brute Heart – ‘The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari’ CS $5
mg53Ninety-two years after its initial release, Minneapolis trio Brute Heart were commissioned by the Walker Art Center to construct a soundtrack for the German Expressionist film, “The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari”. Deftly evoking its subject matter, the score transitions from moment to movement; gorgeous, elegant viola & cello swell to tense alien landscapes to mystic passages of looping melody. It’s a style uniquely their own, one in which Brute Heart have been mining via bass, drums, viola, keyboard & their collective voices for two prior full-lengths (Brass Beads & Lonely Hunter, the latter on Soft Abuse). Few have the compositional prowess of these three & Moon Glyph is grateful to release in its entirety, their formally recorded score to this silent noir masterpiece.  Ed. of 150.

Rejections – ‘The Vertical City EP’
Rejections is Michael Hann from Teesside, UK. His new tape is loosely based on the ideas expressed in J.G. Ballard’s novel ‘High Rise’ and each song on the EP takes it’s title from chapters in the book. The result is a darkly propulsive journey through a grim dystopia and will appeal to fans of Raime, Andy Stott and Blackest Ever Black.

Invisible Path – ‘Dreams Woven Within the Tapestry’
Invisible Path is Michael Bailey, formerly of Barn Owl. His solo sound retains that group’s enormous drone majesty but looks to the sparkling heavens that rotate above Barn Owl’s arid landscapes. If Barn Owl are desert dwellers then Bailey is a stargazer. This is one for lovers of Thomas Koner, Derek Rogers, Kyle Bobby Dunn and, of course, Barn Owl.

Lutto Lento – ‘Partition’
Lutto Lento is Sangoplasmo Records’ Lubomir Grzelak. His work as Lutto Lento combines field recordings with twisted electronics and ‘Partition’ – inspired by the events of the late 18th Century that saw Poland torn apart – is by far the darkest tape we have released so far. Fans of Ensemble Economique, Indignant Senility and Burial Hex should lap this one up.
