CANTO O1 MATTHEW P. HOPKINS – ‘FOG STUDY’ C20
EDITION OF 100. An inner study of fog. A slow descent through a hazy interior lined with various horns, scraps of breath, looped feedback, and layers of tape hiss. Matthew P. Hopkins (Australia, 1978) is an artist based in Melbourne, working with sound, visual art, and writing. His audio work sits loosely within the realm of concrete music.

CANTO 02 ANDREA PENSO – ‘RITORNO ALL’ACQUA’ one-sided C20
EDITION OF 100. A composition (based on rough field recordings and tape loops) about evolution, the baptism of Jesus, a mantra that changes the cells, about human beings who change deeply form and essence in their life time but also about a conscientious involution. Andrea Penso (Italy, 1985) is a sound maker, already active under different aliases (with some albums under Denovali records). “Ritorno All’Acqua” is his first official work under his real name. He is part of Black Moss / Canti Magnetici label team and run the micro-label Kirlian recordings by his own.

CANTO 03 CARLOS CASAS – ‘VUCCA DE LU PUZZU (FIELDWORKS#19)’ C50
EDITION OF 150. Pieces composed with field recordings and radio frequencies captured in the cave Vucca de lu Puzzu at Capo di Leuca, Gagliano del Capo, south Italy, during the residence “Investigation on the extreme land” curated by Ramdom and GAP. Carlos Casas (Barcelona, 1974) is a Film and sound maker and visual artist, his work is a cross between documentary film, cinema, and contemporary visual and sound arts.

II042 – Stag Hare – ‘Tapestry’ 4xC60
An exploration of subtle expanses, a connecting network in the web of being, a combined effort of sound landscape pattern creation. Sixteen tracks commissioned from December 2014 to July 2015 each made individually and personalized for each patron. Improvised long form zones creating a singular larger structure, totaling four hours in sound, ebbing and flowing in subtle shifting tones and moods.

Arvo Zylo – ‘Sequencer Works Volume Two’
Material recorded between 2000-2003 entirely with a Yamaha Rm1x sequencer in a closet or crawlspace. Among Arvo Zylo’s most musical work to date, much of the material took up the entire memory of the sequencer, because of the amount of automation. Culled from dozens of hours of archives, either released in extremely limited quantities in 2004 or before, or previously unreleased. A Sequel to Sequencer Works Volume One on Out-of-Body Records. CASSETTE VERSION : Co-Released by NO PART OF IT, C.I.P., Rainbow Bridge, and Forever Escaping Boredom, this is a professionally duplicated c60 cassette with two-sided, full color 5-panel j-cards in a norelco case, with liner notes. Brannten Schnüre – ‘Sommer Im Pfirsichhain’ LP
Brannten Schnüre is an experimental dark folk group out of Würzburg, Germany. Christian Schoppik composed and played all the music, Katie Rich whispers, recites and sings. Together they make astoundingly beautiful folk with a rich instrumentation leaning towards the atonal spectrum. Instrumental wanderings stand alongside Nico-esque poetry tales. Christian plays the accordeon and in some songs guitar and flute. Inspired by hierophants like Nový Svět and David Jackman, solemn song fragments (a lot of old greek rembetiko-recordings) are modified and looped, with additional instruments and voices being integrated later on. His music has been described as “surreal folkcollage” and “german hauntology”. With the emergence of Schoppik’s second project, a dada cabaret called Agnes Beil in 2010, Brannten Schnüre moved closer to the song structures of its frivolous sibling. The songs of Schoppik’s latest creation Sommer im Pfirsichhain are further accompanied by a female singing voice, lending the pieces the voluptuous quality of a stickily tense midsummer. Sommer Im Pfirsichhain (Summer In The Peachgrove) is the second part of a quartet of releases. The first being Aprilnacht which got released on Sic Sic Tapes last year. Part three Geträumt hab’ ich vom Martinszug and part four will follow later. Reference points are bands like Winter Family and Twinsistermoon. Music etched on folkloric, ritual elements transferred into the 21th century. Also worth mentioning is the hand-drawn artwork which is made by artist Gwénola Carrère.

Tarotplane – ‘First’ LP
Tarotplane is the solo project of PJ Dorsey from Baltimore MD USA. Over the last few years he has been gradually crafting his debut album, appropriately called First. The end result is a tremendous album etched on the great krautrock & experimental psychedelic records from the 70s. Vintage electronic sounds are mixed with effected guitar parts. It might sound quite familiar at first, but once you enter the heart of the album it all gets spectacularely exhilarating. The true power of this album is how it swirls around and captivates you without any effort. Records such as Franco Battiato’s Pollution, Bill Holt’s Dreamies, Popol Vuh’s Affenstunde and Deuter’s D were strong influences. All of these artists use tape loops, environmental sounds, filtering and other effect processing in an exceptional way. Their desire to create their own distinct sonic world was the driving influence behind this LP. These artists never let the experimentation get in the way of creating something musical, beautiful and sonorous. First integrates those influences but it also has a more traditional psychedelic rock sound built into its sonic viewpoint. PJ took all these diverse influences and blended them together in the most seamless way possible. Something akin to a mix tape. First is a continuous flow from the start to the end. The album was originally going to be called excursions, because he would walk for hours on Baltimore’s waterfront listening to fragments of his playing, as well as samples from films and records to find a balance that worked. The ultimate goal was to make what some would call a head record. Something you could listen to on your own personal excursions that would have a sonic headspace that was distinctive and enjoyable.

It’s been ten years coughing clouds of exhaust and spitting gravel flurries and brokeMC is still grinding. Four solo albums, two BrokenDomer albums, BrokenPhono (with UK producer Phono), three MINDSpray albums, the live band Heathrow Tull, and countless contributions to others’ albums and mixtape makes brokeMC one of the most prolific artists in the NYC scene. The #DEADBEATSMixtape is a retrospective on those ten years of smoked-out cyphers, open mic and battles, underground parties, cross-country tours, constant collaborations and elevations. The two artist introduce the moniker “Lawnmowermen” – a nice nod to the passing summer days filled with the buzz of the blades clipping the grass. Remember the hot sun beating down on you as you wipe the sweat from your brow. The beats on this album have a similar effect, droning in their experimental slashing. Hakobune – ‘Mizukagami’ CS
Hakobune, (aka 依藤貴大 (Takahiro Yorifuji)) has been at the heart of some of the most deeply wistful, glacially meandering ambient compositions since first breaking out back in 2007. Having already issued vibrantly sedate sounds with Beer On The Rug, Constellation Tatsu, Inner Islands, Patient Sounds, Sunshine Ltd., and many more, the project now returns with four new tracks of lethargic bliss and expansive melancholy. Opening with the 18-minute “ Nagasaki,” Mizukagami wastes no time, diving headfirst into the extended drift of oceanic sound. Stringed chords and pensive tones are slowed to a smear, blurring each moment of beauty into a timeless arc of sound.
