PHASE FATALE – ‘Skyscraper’ EP
Phase Fatale is the new techno project of Hayden Payne (also behind the cold wave band Dream Affair) based in Berlin via New York. With only two appearances on compilations from Nostilevo and Electric Voice Records last year, Payne debuts his first 12” EP, *Skyscraper*, through Avant! Records on July 15. The EP moves between noise-ridden soundscapes and minimal industrial techno rhythms influenced by EBM classics, such as Front 242 and Klinik, to modern contemporaries like Silent Servant and Ancient Methods. Only 23, Hayden Payne approaches his music with a youthful and unique touch turning disparate sounds into driving and danceable noise. All tracks were recorded live using only hardware synthesizers, drum machines and effects.

HAND OF DUST – ‘Walk in White’ 7″
Hand Of Dust is a trio from Copenhagen. They somehow belong the Posh Isolation brood but they play a personal variation of dark rock music with roots in folk and with a lot of focus on songwriting and lyrics. Originally formed in order to play the acoustic songs of singer Bo Høyer Hansen as an electric setting, it quickly grew into a band.

Simple as that – two eccentric musical enigmas crossing paths! Kallabris and Lepenik have been collaborating on an unnamed project for years. At one point, wasn’t even sure that it will see the light of the day at all. But, never provoke with destiny! Different musical personalities but with many common musical points,offered extremely polarized piece of art, some kind of kaleidoscope of musical suprises and always on the edge of disintegration. A record that mixes a wide range of styles, opening with slow ambiesque vignettes, elegiac passages, continuing with psychedelic techno and trip hop movements, finishing with weirdest type of pop bossa nova.

THE TOBACCONISTS – ‘A Secret Place’ LP
The Tobacconists are Scott Foust (Idea Fire Company) and Frans de Waard (Kapotte Muziek/Beequeen). “A Secret Place” is a sound collage of fractured synths, industrial thumps, sampled distant voices and eerie atmospherics. Foust and De Waard are self-proclaimed Dome enthusiasts and “A Secret Place” feels like a reverential yet wholly original nod to Bruce Gilbert and Graham Lewis’s post-Wire works. Printed in an edition of 300 on translucent green vinyl as a split release with A Giant Fern (Portugal). Only 150 copies for the U.S.
