Bestial Mouths – ‘Hissing Veil’ LP $16
Hissing Veil, Bestial Mouth’s debut, is 40 minutes of intense gloom. A meditation on the relationship between transgressor and victim conceived in a flurry of automatic writing, Hissing Veil is an urgent declaration revealed in a barrage of primitive rhythms and feral calls. Uncompromising, beautiful synth and beat driven compositions haunted by deep and brooding female vocals. Los Angeles’s finest. Limited to 500 hand numbered copies on clear vinyl.

Lord Foul – ‘Killing Raping Burning/The Devil’s Advocate’ LP $16

A hateful document from the early metal underground! This vinyl is a single-sided etched art edition, with beautiful artwork by Bryan Burk of Dark Horse Tattoo carved into the B-side. William Bowers – ‘Post Modern’ [Review]

William Bowers’ ‘Post Modern’ is an aesthetic statement not in architecture or concept but like that of a font.  Despite the silly mugger greeting us from his one-sheet photo, Bowers is really a little gentleman.  A typesetter of sorts, he grafts aesthetic angles into musical matter like quotations in a novella.  More important, Bowers lays claim only to the post *space* modern, meaning not really that well-worn epoch, but a general timeliness of coming after modernity struck.  That’s all.  Using a synthesizer he creates nine tracks in a polite 33 minutes.  ‘Post Modern’ is like Sun Araw without the guitar ‘n’ irony, impassioned as Coil, and patient as Scanner.  With a spirited wave from his hometown, the stuttering opener “Hello from Green Bay” offers nowhere in its looping bleats for Bowers to hide alter-interpretations, and this friendly posture carries into the more developed tracks to follow.  “Art Nouveau” “Roman Arch”, and “Happy Wandering” are multi-part soundtracks of pure vibes, with the last a send-up to overground American rave culture and the Orbital in all of us, a bride stripped bare off her beats to the musical essence above.  “Night Moves on Shallow Ground” establishes a rhythmic sequence as in OPN’s ‘Zones without People’, but develops a melody of greater richness in a condensation of feeling – quite contrary to Lopatin’s general exposition of everything but.  Closer “Solaris” is a bleary trance sequence which gets dubbed-over & out by huge bass daubs over ashy oscillations, and which manages to omit all filmic connotation and simply pairs two existential mediums in an appropriately shallow infinity-pool of sound.  100 copies on pro CDs in full-press digipaks.

Exhumed Corpse – ‘Mortem Obire’ C50 $7(US)/$9(WORLD)
Corrosive lo-fi dark ambient by Michigan noise mainstay Sam Wagner, Exhumed Corpse is a wallowing retreat from his solo works as Dour and Tightrope.  Having a wide spread of releases in bands such as Bluebird (alongside Aaron Dilloway), Gridlock’d (with Pleasure Dome’s Thom Elliott), and Black Onyx to name a few, Wagner’s Exhumed Corpse project has been a self-sustaining staple of his own With Intent Records as well as madness released through Hanson Records, Hermitage, Fag Tapes and FM Tapes.  Counter-industrial with a primitive sway that always seethes through the ground. Edition of 75.

GNOD – ‘Chaudelande Volume I’ LP
Formed in 2006, mancunians GNOD started their last european tour to date by spending a couple of days in the Studio Chaudelande, a small house made of bricks and passion, somewhere in the Normandy countryside (France). They recorded new songs that are now released as a two volumes LP serie on Tamed Records. “Chaudelande Volume I” contains three songs which demonstrated the multi-faceted universe of GNOD. From the heaviest spacerock parts they ever recorded to meditative neo-folk mantra influenced moments of calmness and introspection, this new recording marks a new step in GNOD cosmic procession. Double bass guitar, percussive heavy drum, that met sound of bell. Some quite part were recorded outdoor between birds and trees, that give a timeless mood to the record. Result shine like a versatile light, eyes burn by the moonlight and the twilight. “Chaudelande Volume I” is the first release on Tamed Records schedulded for october the 20th and we’re happy to start the adventure with such a great record ! Front cover photo by Chris Haslam, rear cover painting by Alice Dourlen. Recorded by Bertand Duchemin at Studio Chaudelande in april 2011. Mixed by Neil Smith and Gnod at Rhytmyc. Mastered by Paul O’Brien at Pobaudio.  500 copies on white vinyl.

CHICALOYOH – ‘Les fantômes sortent des racines’ 7″
First vinyl release for local solo artist Alice Dourlen, “les fantômes sortent des racines” presents two new tracks which always combine multi-instruments and haunted vocals. Chicaloyoh has already released several tapes on Brave Mysteries, Digitalis and Bumtapes. This time Chicaloyoh changed its creative process : no loops were used but only live recordings creating a dynamic result, with richer arrangements and a more complex and evolutive writing. Chicaloyoh integrated more drums than before, and for the first time, rythmic bass parts. On “les fantômes sortent des racines” Chicaloyoh well develops its nice sense of spread melody, like a contemplation chant sung by wraith. If you’ve being charmed by Inca Ore or Pocahaunted, don’t be afraid to follow this new priestess. When the sun goes down it’s not easy to know if the forest will help or annihilate you, pursued by ghosts, surrounded by living roots. Recorded at her home in the Normandy countryside : studio chaudelande.  Artwork by Alexandra Waliszewska. Recorded by Bertand Duchemin at Studio Chaudelande in july 2011. Mastered by Antoine Quoniam in september 2011. 300 copies on red vinyl.

GARY WILSON – ‘Forgotten Lovers’ LP
Edition of 1000 – Jackets printed by VG Kids.  First vinyl issue of this collection of rare and unreleased material by one of the most iconoclastic musicians produced by the 1970s. Wilson’s 1977 LP, “You Think You Really Know Me”, is a classic of alternate-universe lounge-wave, and has been cited as choice by everyone from the Residents to Beck Hansen. “Forgotten Lovers” includes unreleased studio tracks from the same period, subsequent single tracks, as well as samples of Wilson’s pre-“You Think You Really Know Me” records (a single and an album) which were more in a porn-soundtrack-jazz-funk vein. Gary has reanimated his career in the last decade, and we raise our hats to him for doing so, but his early stuff is really the donkey’s eyelids. A classic bizzaro world blend of various “real people” elements and explosive new wave dynamics. As rich as butter, you’ll want to spread this music on your torso to promote tanning.

THE HAPPY JAWBONE FAMILY BAND – ‘Okay Midnight, You Win’ LP/CD
Edition of 1000. The second LP (fifth album) by this Vermont / Colorado quintet finds them traipsing ever deeper into the kind of mythic American territory we usually associate with bands who view our landscape from far outside it’s windows. Think of Australia’s Triffids or New Zealand’s Renderers and cross their brilliant Southern Hemisphere inventions with truths only wrenchable from the heart of the beast. There’s a genuine ruralist hoot factor here so smooth that it hits like a ton of silk, but there’s enough killbilly undertow to keep everyone standing nervously around that jug of magic moonshine.  This is available as separate LP and CD editions with identical artwork.

Gianni Giublena Rosacroce – ‘La piramide di sangue’
That is the new solo project by Stefano Isaia, the singer and frontman from our beloved Movie Star Junkies. Accompanied by his mate Dedalo666, Stefano – here as Gianni Giublena Rosacroce – explores new sounds closer this time to the Middle-Eastern shores of the Mediterranean. Armed with clarinet, cans, drums and percussions, piano and acoustic guitars, the duo has just plotted the debut album “La piramide di sangue” (“The blood pyramid”).  Thirteen tracks like one texture of thin arabesques, woven with casbah flavours and North African sounds.  One record with a strong esoteric and cabalistic mood, musically influenced by Muhal Richard Abrams, Maurice McIntyre and Moondog foremost. Our second Yerevan Tape comes in a press of 100 with a free download code!
