DAIS029 Seth Price – ‘Army Jacket’ $16
For the unaware, Seth Price is an conceptual visual artist who lives and works in New York, considered by most to be one of the most interesting and thought-provoking artists to currently be at work. His sculpture, video and painting has been exhibited internationally at venues including the Tate London and the Museum of Modern Art, while gracing the cover of Art Forum last year, as well as countless other publications. Price has been working in sound and music for number of years; though most recordings were controlled under hyper-limited releases through select galleries worldwide. This special reissue LP release gathers and remasters tracks recorded between 2000 and 2002 and originally released on a limited edition CD through the Reena Spaulings Art Gallery, collected under the title of “Army Jacket”. This limited reissue LP contains an exclusive edit and remaster of his seminal avant-pop masterpiece by Seth Price featuring new, exclusive artwork by Price. Limited to 500 copies.

DAIS030 American Cloud Songs – ‘Aum’ LP $16
Folk artist and American tattooer Robert Ryan turned the holy ones onto their backs with his solo folk roots recording endeavor under the name of American Cloud Songs . Previously getting his ideas in order under his band Harmonize Most High and his conceptual collaborations with artist Daniel Higgs, Ryan’s understanding of meditative drone coupled with hidden knowledge of the metaphysical plane make American Cloud Songs compositions stand over to the cliff, harmonically in tune with itself, steeped heavily in primitive folk tradition and sacred geometric imagery. Featuring artist contributions by Nathan Bell (Lungfish), Neil O’Brien (The Van Pelt) and free jazz legend Danial Carter. Recorded by Alap Momin (Dälek /This Immortal Coil). Limited to 300 copies.

whether releasing material under his own name or a bulk of aliases, duos, and trios, m. geddes gengras always manages to produce beyond galactic sounds. over the three cassettes (c40, c44, c62) that make up systems 1, ged gets behind modular synthesizers and tape echos in order to force sparkling tones into supernovas. all of this ear juice is packaged in a triple-tall norelco case. it’s easy on the eyes as well. don’t sleep on this one. for real. imagine floating in a void. a huge void, if voids are measurable, which i don’t think they are. in fact, they can’t be. that doesn’t make sense. but imagine your floating in that huge void. you don’t see anything. you don’t feel anything. you just exist. in a void. then, out of literally nowhere four pulsating doors also exist. and you’re drawn to them. through each door is two rooms. is room swells in its own unique way with different color hazes to them. that would be nuts, right? this hobo cubes release is also nuts. 4xc20s packaged in a vinyl box. so nuts. longstanding audio abusers ebola disco & screwtape utilise powerful slabs of thick, electronic surges along with shrilling frequencies to uncover the inner bowel motions of love & lust. I Feel Love, a live rendition of the donna summers track, see’s casey & ben furnish a wavering metallic tapestry with layers of barely discernible vocals as they crawl through the feedback. Sacrifice instead finds andrew gathering sampled declamations against pornography to claw at a dense furnace of deep, blown out drone squalls & juxtaposed with flirtatious female advances and sexual cries. similar in vein to the collectives ethic cleansing collaboration, ebola disco & screwtape challenge these delicate themes the only way they know how; with distaste and misanthropy!

as an exercise in shutter speed electronic debauchery, Restrict | Suppress | Censor brings together the stapled, cut-up styling’s of agit8, sleep sessions & areyfu. similarly, the trio’s sound palettes teem with a finesse crafted from sporadic glitch disruptions, rumbling, full-bodied bass distortion & a level of maturity harboured from countless hours of dedicated sound, hardware and object exploration. while the fragmented soundscapes serve as a common ground point, the sections still highlight distinctive qualities unique to each artists discipline & showcase a progression of shifting, splintering aural jaunts.

Maurizio Bianchi (M.B.) – ‘Aktivitat / Violichte’ 2xCS/CDr
Maurizio Bianchi (M.B.) started his prolific and eclectic career way back in 1979, remaining active 17 years in total (1979-1984, 1997-2009). He is credited worldwide as one of the first Noise artists ever, and his contribution was decisive to help shape the then young Noise scene, sonically and aesthetically. Many regard earlier Bianchi’s works as masterpieces, and Bianchi himself as a Noise pioneer, often alongside other late 1970’s acts like Nurse With Wound, Whitehouse, Merzbow, or The Haters.  At the height of the international 1980’s Noise scene Bianchi vanished. Artistically speaking, he always struggled to preserve his individuality, and that made him stop when he felt he was getting repetitive. His career took a new path after 1997, this time influenced by positivity instead of negativity.  Aktivitat was recorded at Mectpyo Studios, Italy, November 1981. It was first released in November 1981 in an edition of less than 20 self-released copies.  Violichte was composed and recorded between 2008 and 2009, using violoops and hertzian waves. Dedicated to the Italian microtonal sounds sculptor Giacinto Scelsi (January 8, 1905 – August 9, 1988). It was first released in 2010 in an edition of 100 cassette copies, by Robert & Leopold.  All composed and performed by Maurizio Bianchi (M.B.), and officially re-issued for the first time.

Knotted Cord – ‘Use Your Mind Powers For Hours And Hours’
Knotted Cord is the solo band of Northern California-based musician Rebecca Keehner (former guitarist for The Tangles).  Rebecca is responsible for every noise in the band including guitars, drums, bass, keyboards, and vocals.  The upcoming release Use Your Mind Powers For Hours And Hours is Knotted Cord’s third release since Rebecca began the band in August 2010.  The new album follows Knotted Cord’s previous releases all within the last 14 months Polyphonic Beasts Expand In Parallel (s/r Aug 2011) and the debut EP Moth-Shaped Flame (s/r Feb 2011).

It is in his nature to behave foolishly, for the ends justify the means. Impulsive, churlish, arrogant, beloved.
