Transmuteo – ‘Transmuteo’ LP
image001Transmuteo is the multimedia project of a mysterious New Orleans-based Atlantean being named Jonathan Dean. Transmuteo encompasses audio, video, digital art, site-specific installation art, radio broadcast, live performance, and experimental social networking. This is the debut full-length vinyl release by Transmuteo. The album takes the listener on an esoteric journey into holographic dimensions populated by ghostly signifiers of self-actualization and corporate success. Across two sidelong suites, these intensely hypnagogic meditation visualizations break apart into perplexing hyperlinked fragments stretching out into a digital horizon of datamoshed technoid bliss. You came here to discover your true purpose, but by the time you find the answer, you have transformed into something else entirely. Transmuteo shows us where we need to go next. You know you’re in for a journey of self-discovery.

JD Emmanuel – ‘Time Traveler’ 2LPzorn25frontsmallKudo’s to Lieven Martens of Dolphins Into The Future for bringing J.D. Emmanuel back into the spotlights. In 2007 Lieven dug up the masterpiece album Wizards and re-issued it on his own label. A few years later, in 2011, J.D. was asked to tour through Europe where he was accompanied by Dolphins Into The Future and Paul Labreque. Denmark, Belgium, Sweden, Germany and Holland welcomed J.D and the people attending the concerts knew they were in for an electronic blast from the past! This 2xLP set covers the tour with a great deal of unreleased live tracks. The live recordings show J.D.’s phenomenal skill to create a universe of swirling and constantly turning sounds. He’s up there in the big league of early electronic and new age pioneers with the likes of Iasos, Laurie Spiegel and Trans-Millenia Consort. Some words from the man himself: After my European tour, I decided to use the name Time Traveler to describe my music because it can put the listener into a state where time seems to disappear. This is my goal with my music, to create an altered state for expanding consciousness. With Hawaïan inspired artwork, just like JD’s colorful character and of course his t-shirts.

Quiet Evenings – ‘Impressions’ LP
zorn26frontsmallFollowing the much loved Nova Scotian Arms / Motion Sickness Of Time Travel split LP on Aguirre, here’s the second collaborative LP by the couple from LaGrange, Georgia. In a little over three years, the duo that comprise Quiet Evenings – Grant and Rachel Evans – have become two of the most prolific and active artists in the American underground. Each also has solo projects: Grant most recently under his own name as well as Crippling and Rachel as Motion Sickness of Time Travel. Between those as well as Quiet Evenings, they’ve amassed well over 50 releases for various labels in various editions. They also co-run the Hooker Vision label, clocking up a similar amount of releases for other kindred spirits. On Impressions both sides offer superrepetitive dronework in the highest form. Outer-space that balances a slow pace with an incredibly intense inertia to evolve immediately, yet gracefully. With minimal instrumentation of guitars and synthesizers the pieces on Impressions captivate the listener into the world they’ve created. Far from the realm of pure ambient drift, subtle forces build within their disarming restraint and provide a stunning balance between light and shade. Quiet Evenings inhabit a ghostly space of unique elegance. This is a duo that can carry their craft well beyond standard shapes.

I Had An Accident

Feend – ‘Secrets’ C30 $6
Secrets begins like a whisper. A steady beat increases intensity but remains consistent. A producer from Temecula CA, Feend builds a steady rhythm of tranquility. The atmospheric sound samples sooth the mind and melts away the outside world as the trance of this beat tape produce loops of emotions. Eliciting old school technique with modern experimentation, the album flows like fingers across a naked body and titillates the mind in such a similar manner. A most memorable listen that will be repeated over and over again. From hard hitting beats to timed structure, Secrets does hold some secret recipe for brilliance. Limited to 101 reel2reel cassettes, half on chrome Type II tape, half on ferrous oxide Type I tape. For those that are tape heads – chrome is the way to go. MP3 download with purchase.

Boogie Boy Metal Mouth – ‘Boogie Boy Metal Mouth’ C40 $6
With the productive backing of DJ Emoh Betta and lyrical stylings of J Ring, Boogie Boy Metal Mouth’s eponymous release combines elements of punk rock, blues, and hip hop beats into an amazing element of contemporary sound. These strong influences culminate the essence of Boston, where the album and artists are from. The rhythm of the album flows with rolling vocals of J Ring and the hard drumming of DJ Emoh Betta’s production with a twist of instruments and beats complimenting the unique styles of Boogie Boy Metal Mouth. The album is full of flavor reminiscent of the culture and history of the Boston punk sound, redefined and filtered into a new culture. Limited to 70 orange cassettes on chrome tape. Mp3 download with purchase.

Shtyro feat. DenMother – ‘Live Vile’ C32 $6
Shtyro is the produced sounds of Robert Griswold… transplanted to Austin, Texas by way of Denver, Colorado… his music is tender with chilling effects that broaden the scope of ambience into a relaxing dragged out beat that drops with a haunting feel. A swarming of emotions that spin with the addition of DenMother’s vocal loops creating an orgasmic sensation and tranquil illusiveness. Live Vile sounds like it was recorded late at night, maybe in the darkness of a forest, with a lush soundscape that sets the tone for a beautiful masterpiece. Limited to 48 “jelly green” tapes. Mp3 download with purchase.

Blvck Ceiling – ‘VOID’ c30 $6
The darkness of dragged out beats and soulsplitting samples of Blvck Ceiling continue with the buzzing synth sounds of VOID. The conceptual elements of each Blvck Ceiling album shows themes of fear and despair, VOID does not fall short of this. The well-crafted album of Spokane’s lost soul features dances of the dead, a sound of internal chaos and inflicted pain. More than just a continuation of a very successful 2012, VOID realizes the end of the world, embraces it, then destroys the hope of survival. Let this be your Bible on the journey to the abyss. Limited to 150 black cassettes on chrome tape. Mp3 download with purchase.

DJ DOG DICK – ‘IDENTITY’
Forged in St. Louis suburban ennui and steeped in urban slime from the slums of the West Side of Baltimore to the fringes of Greater New York City, DJ DOG DICK’s IDENTITY EP is the warning shot – a statement of self and a direct declaration of intent – announcing the imminent arrival of THE LIFE STAINS LP (coming May 2013). Comprised of all-new, non-LP material, IDENTITY melds the hazed sonics of the past decade of haunted pop with blazed surrealist raps and a comedian’s sense of pace and narrative. IDENTITY was written and engineered by DJ DOG DICK himself at HOSS’s nu studio facility, LONE PINE ROAD, in Greenpoint, Brooklyn during December 2012 and January 2013, in the aftermath of the destruction wrought by Hurricane Sandy on his current hometown, Far Rockaway, Queens. DJ DOG DICK (nee Max Eisenberg) has cultivated underground infamy for the last decade, coming up in the 2000’s noise scene as a member of Nautical Almanac. Since, Eisenberg has maintained parallel lives as both a top-flyte home-brew modular synthesist (recording as DOG SYNTH), and as one-half of DOG LEATHER (alongside SEWN LEATHER), reigning enfant terribles of the noise-rap non-scene. With IDENTITY, DJ Dog Dick takes his rightful place as the Right Coast’s reigning slime-pop auteur mutante.

NORTHERN AGGRESSION – ‘Abducted by Jesus’ CS $5
abducted art 100pxSoon after releasing their first demo in June 2011, Canadian black metal group Northern Aggression began writing material for a full-length follow up. During the ‘Abducted’ sessions the group found their sound progressing naturally in a nosier and more psychedelic direction, as shown on this finished recording. This release tells the story of a group of campers that go on a late night hike and find themselves abducted by Jesus upon discovering an abandoned cemetery.

Field Hymns

NODOLBY – ‘INCEPTION /AFTERMATH’ $6
fh030RIYL: BBC Radiophonic Workshop, an expedition to the afterbirth of synthesis, the compression of space and time due to a fever dream. As you may have noticed, we in the world of synth-based cassette music are awash in a tide of baby-faced analog synthers and teen arpeggiators, but we at Field Hymns are here to tell you that not all arpeggiators are created equal. Inception showered over our monochromatic minds like a candy factory on the blink spewing Skittles. As the burbling, sputtering synth-sequencing, gleaming but with a little wear around the edges, plopped and plooked, our minds giggled with non-thoughts. When we flipped the cute lil’ orange striped C-40, we wandered a landscape of brown, haggard synth textures that is Aftermath to the point of exhaustion. We reached the end of all ideas, the shattering of histories, and the bottom of all champagne flutes, believing our Inception-induced hangover was terminal. Soon enough, though, Nodolby took our arm and glick-glacked us out of the stately, somber void with his jangling arpeggi and it was fucking joyous! Nodolby is Michele Scariot of Italy & runs the Dokuro imprint.

THE CATS’ ORCHESTRA/Regular Music – ‘NO KEYS’/’RUINS’ split CS $6
fh031-032
THE CATS’ ORCHESTRA – NO KEYS. RIYL: Fonal Records, Kluster, early Kraftwerk + a touch of biscuit. It’s just a normal night for The Cats’ Orchestra…somewhere else. The little factories hum, tiny drunks stumble home, miniature drive-ins play wee adventure movies, a flock of robot geese flies over, and an orchestra made of pint-sized Russian cats fiddles away on prepared violas, contact-mic’d cigar boxes, and underwater wine glasses on the bandstand. The half-tunes, half-abstractions of this naively brilliant one-man orchestra are a fine demonstration of acoustic and wonky electronics tools that build scaffolding to bring us to the cosmic. This is one of the most appropriately-named groups ever, though we wouldn’t have thought cats had such good taste in music. A rare example of delightfully meandering plink-plonk that you can’t help but follow. The Cats’ Orchestra is poet and musician Nicholay Syrov, label head of Moscow’s Dumpster Diving Lab and editor of magazine Nisha. REGULAR MUSIC – RUINS. RIYL: Squishy Psychedelia, Tangerine Dream scoring a nature program, Nitrous Oxide Smoothies. Somewhere deep in the CPU sleeps the mind of a poet, dreaming in binary of a particular time and place in space. How he got there is of no consequence to us, rather it is his dreams that concern us now. Sun is the square wave, the color blue, the saw wave. Trees and the merest hint of grass on the hill behind are pink noise, the sea a pulse wave. We are seeing in two dimensions but hearing in three as the code unwinds, pausing, turning and leaping towards the horizon as the wind, played here by a low e, carries us past the seagulls on the horizon and towards the beautiful digital expanse above. Regular Music is a Portland, Oregon electronic supergroup consisting of E*Rock of Audio Dregs, Marius Libman of Copy and Charlie Salas-Humara of Grapefruit / The Planet The / Panther.
