Brand new full length album of cosmic psych folk drone from Mehdi & Solange. In March, the duo will be heading out on their first ever proper tour, here in the UK. Beyond The Veil is being released especially for this tour and will be on sale at shows and through select shops and mailorders. The discs are hand stamped and the covers are hand numbered in gold ink, as always features stunning (if somewhat dark) cover art by Solange. Edition of only 300 copies.
Sylvester Anfang II – ‘Perzische Tabijten’ LP £11
Promised last year and now finally ready to land, The GPS is proud to unleash the epic new full length from legendary Flemish kraut / psych jam masters Sylvester Anfang II. “Perzische Tabijten” (“Persian Rugs”) features 6 super heavy, densely extended jams, deliciously tribal, quasi religious, utterly whacked out pieces that eternally build and pound at the senses. High on lush drones, pounding shamanic rhythms and eastern tinged instrumentation with flittering moogs adding to the “middle of the woods” textures throughout… Recorded on an old farm in Sint-Pauwels (between Gent and Antwerp), in one take with no overdubs, the band strived for a more Eastern vibe and approach than previous releases, which partially explains the album’s title. Following several sold out releases across a number of great labels (Eclipse, K-RAA-K, Aurora Borealis, Blackest Rainbow and under their own “Funeral Folk” imprint) the LP isn’t expected to hang around long. Everything previously from both artist and label is sold out so expect the same here… Beautiful pro-printed psych sleeves in an edition of 500 only.
UNDERCARRIAGE – ‘Homunculus’ CDr £6.5
Debut disc from the new collaborative project between Nathan Bowles (Black Twig Pickers/Spiral Joy Band) and Lisa Cameron (Venison Whirled). A real odd one this, lots of rattling and scraping of percussive objects creating 3 tracks of abstract improvised surreal sonic explorations. The sound is matched by what I can only describe as the weirdest sleeves I have every had the joy of releasing (and we’ve had some weird ones), but this one is far out, the guy at my local print shop looked baffled when he was printing these for me… Edition of 100 copies in full colour covers with insert.
