Robert Ridley-Shackleton/Kapali Carsi – ‘Wet Dipole’ split C40 £5
Kapali Carsi is a true underdog in Avant-garde music. His sounds are very minimal and austere. However what make KC so fresh is that his simple sounds can have serious tension and although sometimes deadly serious can seem very free almost like serious ‘art-brut’.  This split cassette is almost entirely focussed on microphones which nearly dominates all of Kapali Carsi’s work and has also been a key concept through Robert’s work lately. Robert’s side of the tape is less tense and more crude and diseased.  This cassette is perfect for all your scrapping, bangs and breathing needs. Limited to 35 copies.

Robert Ridley-Shackleton/Kommissar Hjuler Und Frau – ‘Big Sass’ split C58 £5
The dream team known as the Hjuler’s present what sounds like a ritual, a sacrifice or a warning to aliens that life on earth is not good. Mama Baer at times sounds like she becomes possessed by the messages she is spewing out, all accompanied by Kommissar’s primitive guitar playing. It could have been recorded in the stone age, but we will never know. Robert’s side of the split uncovers worlds of hisses and spits of frequencies from the unknown that melt into minimal pop goo made with vocal loops and reversed charity shop tapes. Limited to 50 copies.

David K Frampton/Robert Ridley-Shackleton – ‘Upside Down Cathedral’ split CDr £2
Frampton is what only can be described as the Christ child of all things ROCK. His style of rock however is extremely on its own in a world of guitar based music. His beats often are more dance/electronic. His guitars are noisy and ‘no wave’ in its abstract qualities. Inspired by classic rock and Grunge Frampton mutates his love for music into a weird nasty bastard. Roberts tracks from the split are also based on Rock but they steer more a grindcore style. However these sound nothing like grindcore or any rock, they are just inspired by. Instead the track mostly comprised of vocal loops that try to imitate guitars and instead sound like growls, accompanied by even more growls. Limited to 25 copies.  All ship from the UK

Papaaver

ARCHAIA LP 16€
Papaaver Records is proud to present the first vinyl reissue of this privately pressed hard to find sinister zeuhl masterpiece that ended up on the Nurse With Wound list. Michel Munier and Pierrick Le Bras formed Archaïa in 1976 and recorded this album – their sole effort – one year later. Although influenced by bands like Heldon, Archanoid and of course Magma, their music is unique and not easy to categorise. A dark and brooding mixture of eerie synth and bass rhythms, occult lyrics, percussion, phased fuzz guitar, serene – almost medieval – chanting and a bunch of effects. Everything is here, from free-form drones and weird freak-outs to epic and cosmic songs. Completely remastered from the original tapes by the band themselves, this reissue reproduces the sound of the original vinyl, unlike the cd reissue that was released in the mid nineties which added different mixes. Limited to 500 copies on 180gr vinyl, includes insert with French liner notes.

Run Ruby Red Records

EMOT – ‘Trees & Claws’ CS
Emot’s “Trees & Claws” EP is the first release from start up Minneapolis label Run Ruby Red Records.  The band is comprised of Dan Choma (drums/sampling), Justin Hartke (bass/vocals), Matt Leavitt (vocals/guitar/keyboards) & Robert Mulrennan (guitar/sampling).  Emot has shared the stage with great Twin Cities bands such as Haley Bonar, Halloween Alaska, No Bird Sing, We Are the Willows, & Adam Svec.  Their slow-burn spacious style is reminiscent of Minnesota’s own Low mixed with early Sigur Rós. “Trees & Claws” is a patiently crafted EP full of quiet yet memorable melodies and layers of intoxicating loops.  The cassette opens with a short sensuous Prelude, breaking into the frisky “Lifting Off.”  “Ancients,” a clear stand out track, builds from a slow drum and guitar drone into a defiantly realized bridge reminiscent of King Crimson.  This is a cassette for hearing on headphones, a soundtrack for peaceful solitude.  Pro-dubbed edition of 100.

Daniel Choma – ‘Sad Songs About Girls’ CS
This spring, Run Ruby Red Records released it’s second cassette, “Sad Songs About Girls” by Daniel Choma.  Daniel took some time away from his other projects in Minneapolis to put together this intimate country record in the small confines of his studio apartment.  Influenced equally by classic songwriting and the DIY ethic, “Sad Songs About Girls” was recorded with one condenser microphone over the course of several months.  The opener “Standing by You Staring at the Ocean,”  is an infectious percussion driven lovelorn romp which culminates with a Gregg Allman slide solo.  From there, the cassette drops into the harmonica-driven Byrds style “Jaime.”  Other highlights include the Jerry Jeff Walker styled country narrative “Everything to Me” and the lo-fi soul closer “East Side to Liberty City.” “Sad Songs about Girls” is sincere foray into classic Americana: the work of a gifted young songwriting just beginning to share his craft.  Pro-dubbed edition of 100.

Dig Deeper – ‘August Afternoon’ LP
Coming out of nowhere with a 10″ vinyl in 2011, Dig Deeper now set free their debut album August Afternoon. Receiving solid reviews from both Norwegian and international press for their single, Memphis, the Norwegian roots rockers convincingly do as their name suggests. These guys have played everything from hole-in-the-wall bars to the main stages in Norway for the last years, including festivals such as Norwegian Wood, By:larm, and two shows at the Øya Festival’s club night in 2011 and 2012. Channeling the likes of Neil Young, 13th Floor Elevators and Jason Molina, Dig Deeper channels the heart of Americana’s ethos across the Atlantic ocean.  Lyrically local yet widely accessible, Dig Deeper explores the outskirts of alternative country rock. The album is limited to 500 ex, all covers pressed by hand by the artist Morten Engebretsen in collaboration with the band. Using wood from lead singer Einar Kaupang’s guitar, all 500 covers come out as a unique wood print in 5 different, numbered, color series. Do not worry though, everything will be released digitally as well.
