Niko Mihaljevic – ‘Erica Preli’s Reggae Weed Party’ CS
eprwp_cs“Erica Preli’s Reggae Weed Party” is an audio vérité composition and a compressed document of the eponymous house party held in Arnhem (NL) in late 2012. The event was recorded with a small cassette tape recorder which traveled around the residence in Niko Mihaljevic’s back pocket. The recorded material – including features such as intoxicated kitchen banter, inept group singing and toilet breaks – was used as the basis for a twenty-five minute sound composition, within which linear reality is rearranged. The reproduced reggae classics enriched by accidental interactions and recorded by the method of ‘domestic field recording’, create a distinctive musical vocabulary of the piece in which Luc Ferrari and Bob Marley symbolically meet.
